美元（United States dollar 货币缩写：USD；ISO 4217货币代码：USD；符号：USA$）是美利坚合众国的法定货币，流通的美元纸币是自1929年以来发行的各版钞票，当前美元的发行是由美国联邦储备系统控制，现行流通的钞票中99%以上为联邦储备券，美元的发行主管部门是国会，具体发行业务由联邦储备银行负责办理。在二战以后，欧洲大陆国家与美国达成协议同意使用美元进行国际支付，此后美元作为储备货币在美国以外的国家广泛使用并最终成为国际货币。
