当地时间8月7日，美国支付巨头贝宝（Paypal）正式宣布，推出以美元计价的稳定币Paypal USD (PYUSD)。Paypal在公告中指出，Paypal USD (PYUSD)完全由美元存款、短期美国国债和类似的现金等价物支持，可以1:1赎回美元，由Paxos信托公司发行，该公司受纽约州金融服务部的监管。Paypal USD也是首个由大型金融公司发行的稳定币，可能将推动数字代币在支付领域的应用。
On August 7, local time, Paypal officially announced the introduction of a dollar-denominated stabilization currency, Paypal USD (PYUSD). Paypal stated in the announcement that Paypal (PYUSD), supported entirely by deposits in United States dollars, short-term United States bonds and similar cash equivalents, could be redeemed by 1:1 dollars, issued by Paxos Trust, which is under the supervision of the New York State Department of Financial Services.
Paypal在公告中表示，在未来几周内，符合条件的美国Paypal用户可以在App里直接用美元购买Paypal USD，并且可以用于支付、转账等业务。
In its bulletin, Paypal indicated that eligible United States Paypal users could buy Paypal USD in App directly in United States dollars in the coming weeks and could pay for, transfer, etc.

事实上，美元稳定币早已有之，但一直缺乏大型金融机构的背书。而此次Paypal的入局，有望改变整个局面。从2023年9月开始，Paxos将发布一份公开的月度Paypal USD储备报告，概述构成储备的工具。Paxos还将发布Paypal USD储备资产价值的公开第三方证明。该证明将由独立的第三方会计师事务所出具，并按照美国注册会计师协会(AICPA)制定的认证标准进行。
As of September 2023, Paxos will issue a public monthly Paypal USD reserve report outlining the tools that make up the reserve. Paxos will also issue a public third-party certificate of the value of Paypal USD reserve assets. The certificate will be issued by an independent third-party accounting firm and will follow the certification criteria established by the American Institute of Certified Accountants (AICPA).
